Its long past time MR got a new look so we are going to run a competition.
We need some Medieval / Fantasy / Goth inspired graphics to jazz up the pages a bit.
Small icon type images are what we require that we can place on key pages, but I'm open to what ever ideas people can come up with.
Format can be jpeg of giff but watch the file size as we do have bandwidth restrictions to consider.
There are 3 annual premiums up for grabs, plus assorted other single round premiums.
Graphics must be original or identifiable as freely available for commercial use ! (We can't use copyrighted images !!!)

I SO am not trying to be rude, but your layout (to me) looks like:
I am just saying you really need to work on your layouts. That is really amateurish and lacks the zeal needed for a professional online game.

It looks better than our current layout. Plus I've seen your game and it's not much better either. Maybe instead of dissing on him you should give some constructive critisism...

1 - The average website designer needs to take in the average user for inspiration; the average user is high-speed enabled, with an 800x600 (or better) resolution, therefore can handle more than one graphic.
2 - Because I have my OWN website and games to maintain and if I were to create a new layout that I liked, I would use it instead of giving it to someone else.
3 - Then TRY to become a better web designer. There's classes that will sucker you in for all of that junk for thousands of bucks. I'm sure you can find one. ;-)
4, 5, 7 - Irrelevant.

hum.. nice site but to be honest those site were made from people who own and design their own site, having money to do flash or time to learn it.
like i said im not a designer nor do i want to take a class to learn it. my idea i agree is simple but theres still no guildlines on how they want it to look like.
also FK is your game right? im not trying to be rude but it doesnt look athat great at all. im really suprised you added that site to the list of great references.
plus i dont even know why you would post something not constructive for MR, unlike you there are dedicated players who love MR and want it to grow, i would like to hear from them not you.

I like it. Dunno about the font for "Mage Realms" though- it doesn't seem to fit well with the rest (but isn't a problem, I'm just a perfectionist). But overall, really quite nice. And nicer than the one we have now.

Anyway, give the kid some credit, he came up with something. And it's not really that bad. In fact it's better than the current one. I like the mage realms title banner, nice font:) Easy.
One of the sites that EA posted contains flash:p I dunno if that's something you need.
Alittle more work on the navigation though, perhaps nested html or something.

Okay, I turn my opinion to LOVING it and thinking it's the BEST thing on earth. Maybe now everyone ELSE will think it's crap now that I don't. I really don't get why people have to defend, then support people who do badly, just because someone pointed out obvious flaws about their work. :-/
At any rate, since nobody will agree with me, i will point out EXACTLY why I said it sucked;
1. TIMES NEW ROMAN IS NOT A SUITABLE WEB FONT! I am beyond serious. I have never once seen a website that used it and looked good.
2. Horribly dark colors mixed with black. Dark on dark never works.
3. Double spaced nav bar. This just makes it artificially large and makes it look bad.
4. Background image DIRECTLY behind text. This is the worst thing you can do. Text should go on a solid background, or a textured, non-detailed background.
5. The background image itself is being used inappropriately. IMAGE images, and not texture images, RARELY work on ANY layout.
6. The thing as a whole is inconsistant and bland. Like, really bland. Simplicity works if it's ALL simple and direct, but when you have the right side with an image, then the nav bland with NOTHING, it's inconsistant and makes it look bad as a whole.
7. The title is also bland. The title should be some effect you can't create with text alone. THAT is where you should be putting your images and decorations.
Hopefully now you will stop disagreeing with why it's bad, now that I pointed out valid and obvious errors.
Oh, and SWB, what does my Prizes page have to do with this? Seems out of place, and I'm not quite sure if you're trying to insult/mock me or make a point.

why could u not put those pionts in b4 in a constuctive way instead of tryin be destuctive ur reasons have merit but ur social skills need alot of work
