At least one 19-year-old Internet enthusiast gives Small's idea a mixed review. John Rowe, who lives near Pasadena, Calif., spends six to 12 hours online a day. He flits from instant messaging his friends to games like Cyber Nations and Galaxies Ablaze to online forums for game players and disc jockeys.

Dec 4, 6:00pm Recent free advertising by an international internet firm has triggered a large population boom. 10 new planets have been added to your galaxy.

What might be interesting since chick stated that we saw a spike in new sign-ups is to go to something like Google Trends and see if there is a spike in searching for 'Galaxies Ablaze'

Not me, could never be me...
Oh and Rich, I DID mention FK, he went and looked at all the links I gave him, and thought FK was too small on players, so he didn't include it.
(Yes I am bashing FK!)

free advertising is free advertising. i know whenever i read about a site, i check it out at least. even if we only gain a handful of people from the article, it's still an improvement. stop being so negative and be happy that we at least got mentioned some where over that pile of crap called star kingdoms.

lets give them a chance, Chick why not make it a special case any1 who signs up now has all building research complete and enough LM's not to get rolled.
they might not be able to attack but at least they get a feel for the game.
If i reset during round or start late as soon as i get out of newbie i get rolled and ive been playing 20 rounds or more

It would help a lot if every system made sure to send AID to all newbies that start late, not just in this case. That's the best way to help them get a good start!
